20 things Common to All engineering colleges.

4-year holiday called engineering

1) The lecturers don’t teach. The students don’t study. The only guy who benefits is the one who owns the ‘tea stall’ next to the college.

2) **Rules** are made to be broken.

3) **Assignments** are made to be copied.

4) **Deadlines** are made to be extended…ALWAYS!

5) **Guys** always think the chics in the college next lane are more beautiful.

6) The **geeks** are the most pampered lot during the internal exams.

7) The **Lab Assistants** are the most respected people (during the lab exams i.e.)

8) Girls will always sit in the front rows.

9) Notes are to be taken only during exam time n that too from girls for the sake of getting complete notes.

10) The **Principal** is the person most abused and insulted (behind the back i.e.)

11) Getting supplementary in *subjects* is ‘cool’.

12) There is always a lecturer in the college who can’t speak proper ‘English’.

13) **Night-out** is the second most important tool to ace the exams.

14) The most important tool…the **Bhramastra… is the ‘chit’** in which the words can be understood only by the person who wrote them(in most of the cases i.e.)

15) Getting answers ready in the floppy disk before the comp practical exams is a must.

16) The **Second-years** are the ones with the ‘I am the Don-of-the-college’ feeling.

17) The **Third-years** are the ones with the ’so-many-backlogs’ feeling and the poor souls get down to studying after bossing around in the college for so long – But the fun still goes on.

18) The **Fourth-years** have no connection with the college whatsoever… with no interest in ragging, pulling each other’s legs, the bday parties, the bday bums et all which they enjoyed so much till now. All they want is a good placement and a ‘1st – class’ tag attached to their memo.

19) The **first three years** are spent in cursing the college, the people there, the system and all.

20) But towards the **end of the fourth year**, people tend to feel nostalgic abt the pure unadulterated fun they have had for 4-years. Now the very system they disliked, the very canteen they cursed, the time that they spent there, the bday bums they suffered…

All these seem like heaven to them.

Environment Protection Society

Forms and Details Available Here

EPS aims to systematize events and campaigns for consciousness about environmental issues and to work in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organizations at local, national and international levels. EPS will work to mobilize concerning authorities to reduce hazards to environment.

I was a part of EPS in my university for last year. But this year i had given up due to immense burden of studies and my dedication to magazine Almohandis. But for EPS this year memberships i designed a banner which was liked by most. I thought i shold share it with world.

Its web 2.0 style based. With orb type semi curved rectangles. And a light color scheme. Colors mainly choiced related to environment. And then behind all this a graphic with linear transparency from bottom to top fading gradually and disappearing. Mainly Sajjad suggested that a design with this like arrangement should be made. I then worked on project and here is finalized version for you.

Come and Join hands with Us you all UETians.

Peace and Human Rights A solution to Problems

The Holy Prophet (pbuh), while defining a Muslim as a believer stated: “A believer is a one who is so peaceful for others that he is known to be trustworthy as far as their lives, holdings and properties are concerned. He should be a peaceful and trustworthy man among the society. Only he deserves to be declared as a Muslim.” Again it is stated, Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) vowed: “By God he is not a believer, he is not a believer, he is not a believer, the one who could not provide peace and security to his neighbors.” Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) declared: “There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, of white over a black or black over a white. All are equal”

In Islam all are equal. This has proved many times in the great era of Muslims. I want to quote here an inspiring event from Umar’s caliphate when “jandi saboor” was under attack by Muslim Forces. One day city opened the doors for Muslims. People were busy in teir business and routine households. Muslim solders asked in wonderment “what is that.” Citizens said, “You have given us peace assurance so war goes to hell.” On investigation it was revealed that a Muslim slave had given the peace assurance. On asking Abu Moosa, the general of army, from Hazrat Umar by mail about the matter the later replied “Slave of Muslim is Muslim and his Ama’an is Ama’an of all Muslims.

Under the guidance of these teachings of Islam, it is responsibility of executive to provide the peace assurance of life and wealth and honor to all of the peoples. Any party is not allowed to take taxes or rule any more if it could not do so. Abu Obaidah returned all the Jizya to Christians when went to battle of “Yermoke” saying to his finance officer “We are to save them against the taxes they paid but at current crisis situation we cannot hold the responsibility of defending them so return their money and announce that the relation among us is present but as we cannot defend you so Jizya is being returned”

This is one example from golden era of Islam but our history is full of such inspiring examples.
Once a man said many times, “O Omar, fear from God”. One from audiences said to him that it is enough now. Hazrat Umar said, “let him say as if people do not say they will become useless and if we do not accept right then we.”

This subject of freedom of expression is readdressed by founder of Pakistan in his reply to the Address of Welcome Presented by the Principal, Staff and Students of the Edwards College, Peshawar on l8th April, 1948, he said, “Praise your government when it deserves, Criticize your government fearlessly when it deserves, but, do not go on all the time attacking, including in destructive criticism, taking delight in running down the Ministry or the Officials. They are not now bureaucrats.”

1973 constitution of Pakistan also give the assurance of human rights in articles 9 to 28. So due to immense importance in Islam as well as in constitution it is an important part of a political manifesto for Pakistan. Also for a political party to win the voters mind, party has to assure them the protection, honor, integrity and sovereignty.

Human Rights are also important for any political party as democratic system in Pakistan is still trying to get rid of feudalism, and parties are struggling to achieve a healthy civilized society with Security of person, Safeguards as to arrest and detention, Slavery, forced labor prohibited, Protection against retrospective punishment, Inviolability of dignity of man, Freedom of movement, Freedom of assembly, Freedom of association, Freedom of trade, business or profession, Freedom of speech, Freedom to profess religion and to manage religious institutions.

In addition to all the discussion about rights we should also be responsible about our duties; all of us are neglecting and try to escape. Hassina Wajid of Bangladesh said that to elect angels, voter should necessarily be the angles. It is our own responsibility to understand our obligations and then talk about accountability.

The law enforcement agencies are not above law and order but they are now perceived to be. Political cells in agencies working for stability in country are useless and destroying the rule of law concept and raise the concept of jungle law making some elites king makers. To controlling crimes it is necessary to address the cause of crimes. These causes are feeling of insecurity, lawlessness, unemployment, justice denied, illiteracy, unawareness to judicial system and criminal procedure etc. and these factors may be addressed by improvement in education, economy and judicial system.
We hope Pakistan will re appear as one of most peaceful countries.

Long Live Pakistan!

How could Pakistan’s current education system be improved?

education_pakistan

Numerous ayah of Holy Qura’an emphasis on thinking about creation of universe, forces acting In universe, creation of day and night, heavens, treasures beneath earth, technology etc. Almost Eighth part of Qura’an is on science related topics. It is Islam which makes a nation, technology leader which have only 10 to 15 persons who can read and write. Even the western thinkers accept this realty in “The Legacy of Islam” stating: “There is no doubt that Islamic sciences exerted a great influence on the rise of European science.”
If Islam emphasis on thinking and continuous evolution why our Islamic education system has stuck since 600 years.

Alas we have stuck at the point of independence. Still our schools and colleges are making clerks and meek servants of feudal serpents, far away from the courage to fight for truth.

1. Starting our agenda, we will strive to improve curriculum of Education system. In my opinion a good education system should give following competencies to the students:

• IDEOLOGY: Mongols won the battle but loose the ideology war. We have one of the best ideologies of world. The need is to duly transfer it to the students.

• OBJECT ORIENTED: Youth of Pakistan is facing a goal crises. Most of us meekly go to schools as parents ordered so, go to college to become collegiate and university to enjoy golden days of life. The education system must remove the ambiguity from students’ minds.

• CREATIVITY: Regurgitation of textbook in test or papers has destroyed the creative ability of students. They have to vomit their knowledge on neat and clean papers in answering the perceived famous questions. Education system must raise creative skills in students at very basic level.

• TECHNICAL SKILLS: Students have to learn mostly irrelevant outdated data at schools/colleges and essential part of knowledge is many times neglected. The right information at right place at right time is far more helpful than any other.

• CAREER CONSULTATION: Doctor, Engineer, Armed forces, teaching. Mostly, especially in rural areas, students want to join them. When boom of IT, every one rushes to that direction. And now trend of banking jobs. Still there are many occupations which need manpower a lot. Also many time people suffer from their chosen chore when see unprecedented work environment. A good career consultation is very helpful to chose career for youth.

• INTERPERSONAL SKILLS OR SOCIETAL SKILLS: Man is a social animal. To make it civilize, education system must provide adequate guidance.

• LAWFULNESS: Many of us feel law is a dangerous thing. This perception is due to lack of knowledge. This lack of knowledge results in lawlessness. To make a society for rule of law, awareness is required at nuff age level. Our goal is to achieve unambiguous vision about duties and obligations.

• LESSONS FROM HISTORY: Our prosperous history reveals many lessons to understand. The education system should emphasis students to read the prosperity and learn some thing despite of just memorizing it until exams.
• LESSONS OF UNITY: Unity is more than story of bundle of sticks. The techniques of group dynamics should be practiced at the basic levels of education. To fight against provincialism and extremism it is required to get a culture of tolerance through educational institutions.

2. You cannot use one hammer for all nails but you have to use some hammer for each nail.
Meaning to that is we need single education system to overcome the differences among society. For this purpose a standalone body Basic Education Commission will be formed.
Responsibilities of BEC will be to make policies and standards drawings, defining curriculum, advising the schools and colleges, checking and follow up about practices.
Up to five years education will be same for all. BEC will design an autonomous structure for public sector schools and colleges.

3. An independent examination body to design and take examination from the whole country to make the same education level. The National Examination Department will take examination under the help and guidance of BEC & HEC. For examinations of Islamic education board will be chose with the help of Islamic Education Advisory Council.

4. Emphasis will be given to rural and remote area schools. Formers and villagers are to communicate and with their participation village schools will be building. Special incentives for remote area teachers and awards for finding and re-establishing ghost schools will be given.

5. Mega programs for teacher training according to scientific rules in collaboration with ground realities. Certificate will be necessary for all teachers working in public sectors or in private sector. Pays of teachers will be revised to make it an attracting profession.

6. Special knowledge sharing programs for teachers, not only in public sectors but also working in private sector, will be made by BEC.

7. Skilled people retired from their jobs/occupations may be invited to guide students. At local level career consulting councils of volunteers will be formed.

8. Student unions to give them the practical knowledge of politics, lawfulness and group/societal skills enhancement. These unions will be guided to make a tolerant working environment and compromising skills.

9. Teaching profession need total commitment and focus. Different geographic of country have different mindset of population. So transfers of teachers will be avoided unless someone needs it. Also policies will be design to hire teachers from respective areas.

10. Watchdog and follow-ups committees of parents and teachers at local level will be formed to establish a better working relationship with teachers. These committees will feedback BEC for its policies.

11. All the civil servants will obligatorily get admission of their children in public sector schools for better cooperation in achieving the goal of quality education at commoner’s door step.

The Owl and Sparrow

OWL_sparrow

We the people of Pakistan are courageous enough to face the bloodshed of terrorism, of necessities and increment of problems. We suffer in shortage of basic necessities and food in an agricultural country yet we have to enjoy political drama. We have political parties with kings and princes. The parties with emotional slogans to hide facts, The facts which are used to control by a mysterious establishment, The establishment which have formed a independent judiciary with detained judges, The judiciary to legitimate dictators, the Dictators to show beautiful facts to control politics, the Politics of politician that does not need people, The people which have scarified almost every thing including sovereignty, integrity, honor and wealth of ideology.

Sheikh Sa’adi describes that once a pair of sparrow reached at a buried town and owl sitting on the tree. They think that town vanished due to the misfortune of owl sitting in the town. It was the time of late evening they decided to stay at that only tree by getting permission from owl. The owl came into know about the feelings of sparrow pair. At morning the sparrow felt help less when he found his spouse lost. He asked to owl about it, and astonished to know that owl said she is mine. The sparrow went to crow representing the judiciary of town and filed petition against owl. More surprisingly crow gived decision in favor of owl when owl talked about some personal favorite relation with crow, dismissing petition. Sparrow was about to cry when he hear owl saying the towns does not bury due to fates these are the deeds of township peoples which make the destiny.

ps: Finally got the chance to blog something . This pathetic university net is disgusting.I miss you all alot.

Cruel Constitutions

Yesterday some one really broke my heart. I was so depressed, lonely and bad. I felt it was unjust that anyone can come and break my heart. I think i should sue the person who broke my heart. So I contacted a lawyer. The lawyer demanded for some proofs but I had no proofs….. :( what to do then??? He refused that he cannot help me and infact no constitution can help me as I have no evidence of a heart break. But I fell my heart is really broken by that person. And i still feel pain deep inside. But why our constitutions cannot understand it. Why they are emotionless?? I want to say that our constitutions are cruel.

Destination Unknown

I updated my status on facebook a few hours ago. It was

“Destination Unknown”

As soon as I changed my status a philosophical discussion spurred on it. Here it is:

Destination unknown

Shriku Miku

know ur path then:P

Hassan Raza

i know path but where is destination…. :P

Shriku Miku

it ll lead to the destination

Hassan Raza

:P but why destination unknown….i should be aware of where is destination and when i would reach there….otherwise this journey on strayed paths is meaningless.

Crucified Saviour

if u know ur destiny already… u’l not enjoy adventures in ur path…

Crucified Saviour

no journey or experience is meaningless… u always learn from them…

Shriku Miku

if u know ur paths r strayed then ……..theirs a problem…u should b confident of ..paths u r following ……..it can give u the glimpse to ur destiny

Hassan Raza

if i would know my destiny it would be more adventurous….i cannot learn from a meaningless journey. i would only be able to follow right path if i would be know to my destiny…

Shriku Miku

destiny can never b known……………..its u who mark footsteps to carve ur destiny…….n its not adventurous if u r knowing that u ll b having flu the next day. it will. only cost some extra stress…n nothing……….follow ur footsteps to make ur destination…n u shld b having a clear sanario of ur destination in ur mind..i ll b thrilling

Crucified Saviour

but u only hav certain probablity that u can find ur destiny… it’s not necessary that u’l gono got ur destiny…

Shriku Miku

yahan pe tuo ..philosopher jama hua hua hein:)

Hassan Raza

then its hopeless to keep on moving without knowing not what i would be

Shriku Miku

no its hopeful ..to b moving in…..chasing wat u want to do…..

its not abt wat u ll…its just abt wat u r doing to be

Hassan Raza

only philosophy and religion can help find destination unknown…..you b aa jao…

Crucified Saviour

but u shud hav realistic approach…

Shriku Miku

g g be realistic as crusified is saying:)

Crucified Saviour

u can only imagine ur destination but how can u find it b4 exploring any thing.. ???

I am still confused about destination unknown. I think i should be known first about what is my destiny. But discussion  proved its better to be unaware of your destiny. Whats your word??
